The Corpus Clock was invented and designed by Dr John Taylor who brought together in its creation an exception team of craftsmen, engineers and skilled technicians. It was constructed principally in the Huxley Bertram workshops near Cambridge, under Dr Taylor's constant supervision. The Corpus Clock, to be published at its inauguration, tells the story of its creation and how the College has always been closely associated with theme of time and death. The term 'chronophage' was suggested by Ian Brookes of Chambers Dictionaries and is derived from the Greek for 'time and 'eater'.
